We are officially into Spring and of course that means BBQ Season. Thinking about buying a new grill? Wanting something a little different, a little better, a little unique?

Good news:  I have your answer.

Char-Broil has come out with a brand new grill – The 22.5″ Char-Broil Kettleman Grill. This is unlike any charcoal grill you’ve seen or used in the past. It is more efficient and easier to use than any charcoal grill I’ve used in the past. I’ll hit on a few of the key features, but the most important one to me is the cooking grate. The porcelain -enameled cooking grate is just sick. It’s designed to prevent flare ups during cooking and prevent food from slipping through the cracks. I must have stared at the grate for 20 minutes after putting it together, listing the food to my wife that I could now cook without worry.

Sliced Squash. Shrimp. Sliced Peppers. Onions. And one of our favorites – Asparagus. I decided asparagus would be my first test on this new grilling surface.

In all my years of grilling I’ve had to use a separate veggie tray or basket to cook these items. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s another thing to clean and store. Ladies and Gentlemen: My veggie tray days are behind me!

Next, I moved onto steak. By this point, my fire was blazing hot. This grill is a searing machine. The charcoal is kept closer to the cooking surface than other grills, and the airflow is ridiculous. There are holes throughout the bottom half of the pit which creates even heat throughout the cooking surface, AND ridiculously over-sized holes on the lid to maximize airflow. Oxygen = Heat. And oh my does this grill bring the heat. I had zero issue getting it up to 450-500 to sear these steaks. And of course, because of the design, I had zero flare ups. Look at that grill full of meat! No flames!

Glorious.

Char-Broil has been making charcoal grills for over 65 years. They’ve introduced many innovative products in that time, and this is no exception. This is just an awesome new grill – with an awesomely affordable price! How about $129 at Lowe’s or www.charbroil.com! You can look for a grill that price or cheaper with the same quality – but let me save you the trouble – you won’t find one. That price is a steal for this high quality grill.

Have I mentioned the lid? Ah yea, I mentioned the awesomely huge vents that make temperature control easier, but the lid is hinged! It flips right back! No more searching around for a good place to lay your lid on the floor while checking your food. For me, having 4 kids running around, this is HUGE. No more hot lids on the ground for kids to bump into and burn themselves. AND the lid has a built-in temperature gauge, which I have found to be very accurate. AND it has a stainless steel latch to keep it closed – making it super easy to roll around and transport.

Yes, I’m referring to tailgating. How did you know? I can easily lift this grill myself and it’s built so solid, you aren’t worried about it coming apart or getting damaged in transport.  Heavy gauge steel legs. Stainless Steel Latch to keep the lid confidently closed during transport (yep, no more bungee cords needed!)

So maybe you’re a family guy like me that likes the safety features and massive cooking area. Or maybe you’re a tailgating junkie that is looking for an easier to transport grill that is sturdy, efficient and easier to use and clean. Either way, this is the grill for you. Check out the video below to learn more about the Kettleman grill, then check it out next time you’re at Lowe’s or go directly to charbroil.com – either way, you’ll be happy you did!
