Marinade Monday: What You Need in your Kitchen

Marinade Monday

As you may have gathered from our site, we sorta think marinating is never a bad idea.  We marinate things regularly.  You can actually marinate meat in a ziploc bag and freeze it if you are so inclined.  (This works especially well with lean meat like deer.)

Below is a list of things we think you should keep on hand for marinating purposes.  Of course there will always be some fresh ingredients you may not have on hand – when it comes to fresh herbs, you can use dried if you don’t want to run out to the store.  It is by no means comprehensive, but if this was all you had on hand, you could create a pretty darn good marinade for almost any meat.

olive oil
vinegars of all kinds – balsamic, apple cider, white wine
fresh garlic or minced jar garlic
butter
brown sugar
thyme
rosemary
lemon/lemon juice
parsley
soy sauce
worchestershire sauce
terriyaki sauce
ginger
apple juice
sprite
coke
dried onion
onion
parsley
cumin
chili powder
chipotle chilis in adobo sauce
jalepenos
salt
pepper

So…anyway…get to the store and stock up!
