The Briner – Review and GIVEAWAY!

I’m a firm believer in brining poultry.  Without going into a long diatribe with all the reasons why, I’ll simplify by saying it exponentially increases the juiciness of your meat.

The problem with brining is that it’s somewhat difficult when dealing with whole chickens and turkeys.  What do you use?  A large bag?  Will it leak?  What about a pan?  No, it won’t cover the whole bird.  A cooler?  Yep, you could do that, but then you better scrub the heck out of that cooler and decontaminate before and after.  That sounds like a lot of work.

What about a large, thin bucket designed to hold multiple birds and fit in most fridges by simply removing a shelf?  Ah, yes, perfect.

I brine a lot.  I mean…a LOT.  So imagine my excitement when my friends at St. Louis BBQ Store introduced me to this fantastic product.  I think my exact words were, “Oh my.  This is perfect.  Wow, I’m brining something today.”  I did just that, brining two 5lb chickens overnight.  It was a cool night – the low was about 50 degrees – so I didn’t even use my fridge.  I made the brine, put the chickens in and dumped a small bag of ice over the top.  12 hours later there was still a thick layer of ice.

I haven’t even told you the best part – the genius behind this invention.  There is a movable shelf that locks above the food to guarantee everything remains completely submerged in the brine the entire time.  Genius I tell you, genius!  That is certainly the most difficult part of brining, and they’ve solved it!

So, perfect size, fits in your fridge, doesn’t leak, locks the food below the water line, fits in many coolers…what else do you need from a briner?  Whatever you’re brining, soaking, or marinating – from birds to corn on the cob and everything in between – this is the answer.

And now, THE GIVEAWAY!

St. Louis BBQ Store wants to give you one of these briners just in time for your Labor Day BBQ.  Seriously, how nice are they!?   They are going to give away the Briner Jr.  It’s a little smaller than the one I used in the pictures above, but it will still fit an entire whole chicken or pork shoulder.  The best part about the Briner Jr. is that it will definitely fit in your fridge without removing any shelves!  It has an 8 quart capacity and measures 10.5″ high and has an 8.75″ diameter.

All you have to do is use the Rafflecopter tool below to enter!  We’ll close entries on Sunday, August 25th.
